Jazz legend, internationally renowned big band leader, 3-time Grammy nominee, and the world's greatest trumpet/brass instrument player, Maynard Ferguson and his band, Big Bop Nouveau, performed at Fisher High School in Fisher, Minnesota on September 26, 2005.
With his Big Bop Nouveau Band, Maynard has redefined big band jazz. While many other bands recreate music of bygone eras, Maynard and company draw upon bebop, straight-ahead jazz, funk, swing, classical and contemporary music to create a fresh sound within the classic big band form.
The show began at 7:15 pm with an opening performance by Dick King and his Classic Swing Band featuring the talents of local musicians Dave Christianson, Joel Ness and many others!
The Stockton Helbing/Reggie Watkins quartet followed featuring Stockton on drums, Reggie on 'bone, Jeff Lashway on piano, and Brian Mulholland on base.
